The challenge here was in fulfilling the homeowners’ vision to reconfigure the space as one large room that would include the kitchen, dining area together with and new entrance in a restricted space. Careful planning and finish are key in a smaller spaces that must serve many purposes. Round tables and furniture with curvy shapes make navigating tight quarters easier in the finished decor.
Open Plan Homes incorporated retrofit, renovation and interior design into one complete package in this project. The windows and doors were replaced with new joinery and the interior completely renovated and remodelled.
Yoga & Holistic Studio/Gym
Open Plan Home converted this former unused storage area into an impressive Studio/Gym. Yoga & Holistic activities take place in the large open light filled central space, accompanied by a set of adjoining support rooms. The private spaces can be occupied by more than one person at a time, as the toilet area is separated from the sink, creating a kind of small dressing room, which included lockers, shelves, and benches.
Residential Porch Extension
We added a uPVC A-Rated hall door and side windows to this Residential family home. We also completed the necessary brick work with carefully matching brick & Roof tiles to seamlessly match the original construction. The new porch adds to coat & shoe storage, reduces drafts and add value to the property.
Breathing new life into an old interior
This project involved removing an old exterior wall to join the old house with a new extension and new bespoke wooden light filled staircase. We used LVL beams engineered to support the original roof and second story of the extension. The end result gave the owners an open, modern, free-flowing light filled space.
How to create a Light Filled Kitchen Work Area
This is such a simple yet effective idea of simply cutting out windows between your kitchen cupboards & worktop area. The result can really connect your home and garden and bring much needed light into a room. Here is one example recently completed by Open Plan Homes.
Below is what the kitchen looked like before we began working on this family home. As you can see the results can be quite dramatic!
Turning a conservatory into real family room
Open Plan Homes recently gave this tired old conservatory a face lift by replacing the plastic roof with a timber framed tiled roof. We raised the floor to match the existing house level and using rigid insulation between the rafters we have created a much warmer usable space which now ties in with the rest of the house.
